The body of knowledge, practices, and beliefs about the relationship between living beings — including humans — and their environment that has been developed by peoples with long histories of interaction with the natural world.
Knowledge, know-how, skills, and practices that are developed, sustained, and passed on from generation to generation within a community, often forming part of its cultural or spiritual identity.
Community-specific protocols created by the Local Contexts initiative that allow indigenous communities to communicate how their cultural heritage and knowledge can be accessed, attributed, and used.
A Yorùbá word meaning "knowledge renewed" or "knowledge revived" — reflecting the platform's mission to take fading indigenous knowledge and bring it back to life for future generations.

Every submission follows a four-step consent and review process.

Gather the manuscript, research paper, or cultural document. Confirm with your community or institution that you have permission to submit it for archiving.

Send an email to submissions@atunra.edepoly.edu.ng with a brief description of the material, its language, knowledge category, and the community of origin.

Complete Consent Form
Our team sends a Community Consent Form — a simple document confirming permission to archive, translate, and publish the material with appropriate TK labels.

Review & Publish
Once uploaded, the AI processes the material and our reviewers check accuracy. After approval, it joins the public archive — searchable and accessible worldwide.
